Extracthive is a french SME, dedicated to circular economy.
With over 9 years of experience in industrial waste recycling, Extracthive’s team believes that the recycling of industrial waste is key to achieve the sustainable development goals set by the UN as early as 2015.
Extracthive’s mission is thus, wherever possible, to create new value chains for industrial waste streams, by extracting the value they still contain.
Following initial successes in the valorisation critical raw materials from mine tailings or wastewater, Extracthive has identified carbon fibre composite waste as a target of choice. Indeed, thanks to its strength and light weight carbon fibre is key material for the ecological transition. But this fibre comes at a price i.e. its enormous GHG footprint.
Vision
Our world is marked by renewed geopolitical instability, the return of pandemics as well as the consequences of climate change.
These issues are true concerns for every citizen, but also for companies. Therefore, more and more companies commit themselves to both reduce the exposure of their business (in terms of supply risk or reputation damage for example) and lower the negative impact of their activities (in terms of “imported” CO₂ footprint or resource exhaustion for instance).
In the very case of industrial companies, this translates, among others into:
- Favouring local supply of raw materials
- Paying more attention to the environmental footprint of their inputs
- Finding better ways to handle their wastes
Mission
At Extracthive, we believe that recycling industrial waste is the solution of choice to reach the above mentioned goals.
Indeed, secondary raw materials have a much lower environmental footprint, compared to their primary counter parts, because industrial waste are more concentrated/pure than natural sources (half the job is already done, so to say). In addition, secondary raw materials can be produced locally, in the vicinity of large industrial centres, in a short cycle approach.
Extracthive’s mission is thus, wherever possible, to design, test and implement the suited processes to extract the value contained in these wastes and make it available to industry.
